most of us in the north east had been without power for a few days. i know Keesemom was without for a few and she is back on the boards. i'm sure she will post soon.

not sure about Dick, but Keesemom is usually in contact with him since they live close by.

i have a few question for anyone who is a breeder on here about what your opinions are on feed for your flocks? do you stick to organic store bought feed, regular store bought, get your own milled locally, supplement with any veggies/fruits/sprouts or just feed fruits/veggies/sprouts and no pellet/crumbled feed? have you switched from one type to another and seem to notice better or worse results with fertility, egg laying or over all health? is there a brand of feed you love or dislike or your chickens seem to love or dislike?

also, during certain seasons do you switch out feed or supplement for a reason and why would you do it?

i know there will be a lot of opinions about this so please keep it civil!

i know there will be varying degrees of reasons for liking or disliking certain ingredients or foods given to their birds.

btw, Rose it is wonderful to see you on here! a big welcome to you!

Always fed my birds layena crumbles. Added Black oil sunflower seeds when they were molting and cracked corn during the winter time.

My birds get a mix of a high quality scratch (several grains), crumbles, pellets, and sunflower. They get sunflower year round..and table scraps, apples, bread, and meal worms.

I am a K-selected primate, meaning I will have many productive periods in my (show) life...those who are r-selected have their success and quit. We see both in the fancy..I've been here since '98 and am going nowhere..maybe not so many shows until I get tenure, but I'll be around.

I'm glad you got some good birds..out of the same batch I have and they are decent, I hope to get my older hens breeding soon as they are good quality, just have to eliminate 2 of them out of the breeding pen as they are too dark or uneven.

Well I've had my bantams for a week now and I absolutely adore them. Thank you Leisha! I cannot wait for the Shawnee show in December to meet Kass and any others that will be there
