Faverolles Thread

Sorry it took me so long! I wasn't at home where my calender is! She is 24 weeks. So another 12 weeks for you, give or take.

Hey everyone -

I have two beautiful Faverolles pullets from Terry Gerow in Canada, and have now tried two roosters to get to the next generation, without success. My latest rooster is from Ron Patterson; Einstein was born this spring and began to crow this summer, but still no fertilized eggs.

I am wondering if anyone would be willing to let me keep my hens with one of their roosters at one of the upcoming shows in Ohio? I am glad to pay or to share progeny. Thanks.

It sounds like he is still young, so I would give him some time. If you're concerned then maybe consider picking up an extra male when you go to Ohio.

The Merlin pullet,
I'm loving the feathers that go backwards on the hackle. Glad to see how she's turning out. Hope all r having fun. Patty, you keep any of the salmon males or were they not acceptable?

Oh I am not giving up on him. I would just like to get some chicks yet this year - even though it is so late.

However, I can't have two roosters here, so would really appreciate borrowing the attention of one at one of the shows in Ohio - unless that is just not done?

Thought I'd share a funny pic of the younguns sparring...what you don't see in the pic is daddy standing on the sidelines patiently watching the whole thing...it was pretty cute, when they were all done, they snuggled up together in the corner of the run...silly boys...

Here are my 2 Merlin boys...again, bad cell phone pics...

This first one is darker, and smaller than the other one, I was surprised how much lighter he was when I handled him though.... :(

And the bigger / heavier boy, also lighter in color, and more points to his comb...

I didn't get any decent pics of the pullet, because one of the dogs ran up right then and freaked her out. She did start laying today though.
