All pullets?! Now why can't that happen to me??
Faverolles are hard to breed. People have a lot of really poor quality birds out there. Ugly washed out faverolles. She could have been a recessive white bird from salmon breeding. They often look like your describing. White with salmonly leakage. Most faverolles out there won't look like the ones you see on this thread.Sorry the pic didn't post. I tried pasting it in from email. They are cute fluffy babies, three, with very heavily feathered outside toes.
Been ill all weekend but I did get guilted into taking a (medicated) trip to the Cumberland Fair with the family. They had a poultry exhibition. I found one SF and it was... not inspiring. It didn't look like Henry's or anything anyone else has posted in here (that I have seen) so far. I really hope I am not going to hurt someone's feelings by saying this but it looked miserable in there and it looked like an off-white bird had been rolled on wet gravel. What happened? Was this just PQ? There were some other birds there that I was shocked were being shown so its possible.
Oh very nice. Where did you get your eggs from? Looks like you have 3 blues and a black.
Here are the girls on their way home.
They are a little ruffled up after the day long stay in this cage and the 5 hour car trip. When I have some free time I will let them out of their new digs and try and snap some individual photos to show you each one of them. All have good beards, toes, and decent color. I need to work on combs next year with them and getting a more even over the top salmon color. Dick's girls certainly have a lot of filling in to do and growing left to do. Cindy's girls are already starting to hint at the future looks and its looking good. Can't wait for you to see the head on the one I am calling gigantor. A big thanks to Cindy and Dick for helping me get started again! Can't wait for next spring to start hatching and see the results of the Merlin rooster over these girls.
