Faverolles Thread

How was the show? I wanted to go but the kids didn't feel like it.
I am not good for reference because I have only been to one fair show and this show. It wasn't hundreds of entries like some shows more south. There were only a few LF in the competition. There was only the one pair of SF banties and no LF at all. There were a lot of Calls and almost no other ducks or geese. A few Pekins and four Sebastopols and one pair of Cayuga I think. After that there was row after row of banams and I thought a good variety of them but there was a large group of Silkies taking up most of one row. There were folks out on the lawn selling and everyone seemed very nice.

Does anyone have any LF Salmon Faverolles in Northwest Arkansas? In somewhat close proximity to Benton County? We had our first salmon faverolle this year. She was hatchery bred, but actually turned out fairly nice. A little on the dark side, but otherwise very "typey." She also had the sweetest personality. I was out of town for a couple of weeks and while my husband was taking care of everything she dropped dead. He went out to lock up the coop one evening and went inside to count all of the chickens who had all roosted and my faverolle was lying on the floor of the coop dead. To apparent wounds or physical injuries. He said he was perplexed. I would really like to get some more, but from better stock this time.

Speaking of Roman Soldiers I got a good pick of my Roo the other day
Comb's a little bigger than I like in the front, and his wattles are a little bit, but I like how full he looks in the breast. His legs look nice and wide too. Hard to see everything as far as body shape goes from a quartered to shot, but looks pretty good.

Purchased a pair of Salmon Faverolles from a local breeder. I can't wait for them to grow up! They are such beautiful birds!

Here they are with my 2 Ameraucana chicks :)

Uh oh. Hope she's OK!!! :(
Thanks, think our horse is finally heading in the right direction....last night was the hardest for her and this morning the best she has been since Friday...

on another subject am so excited, came across an older Marsh Roll-X incubator, great condition on Craig's list at a price comparable to a Hovabator with fan & turner, AND woke up to chicks in my current styro bator,

,2 Barny and 5 Mahogany Favs....cute and fuzzy, all had five toes but feet still need ALOT of work. (2 Sandill and 2 cross hens).

Fed late last night and in the Mahogany pen, the hens were on the roost and the Roo was on the floor with several youngsters snuggling around him....

Took some pictures of the pullets the other day and a few more today. They seem to all be doing well and growing and eating tons!
