Rain on the tin porch roof outside my bedroom window.

Robin song in the early morning.

Coffee percolating (yes I'm dating myself) early in the morning.

I remember all of these things, and also the sound of my grandmother outside the back door pumping water out of the well....

and this one was perfect for her, if you didn't pay attention you would feel that cane.

The squeaky wheel in my hamster cage
Chatter of parakeets
Mourning doves calling

Cattle lowing.

The feed tractor moved across the hill across from my house at the same time each morning. If I heard the cattle from the left side of my window, I was early and had plenty of time to get ready for school. BUT, if I heard them lowing from the right side of my window that meant I was late!

At one time I had twenty aquariums each inhabited by a female hamster, babies, and wheel - know how much noise that made in the spare bedroom. Sold the babies to pay for my other animal addictions.

Laying in bed listening to the rain on the old tin roof.

Waking up before daylight to the smell of breakfast cooking and hearing Ma puttering around in the kitchen.

The sound of the churn dasher and squeak of the rocker as Ma rocked in that old wooden rocker on the porch churning butter.

The rhythmic sound of milk going in the tin pail at milking time.

Whippoorwills calling in the twilight.

I remember the roof in the rain being so loud you could not hear your self think.... No wood, only tin on rafters....

After some tornado damage I put a new tin roof on top of my shingle roof.. Nothing... Not a sound... I wanted to hear it....

My Mom's dinner call was a resounding, "SUPPER".

Breakfast sounds was part of my coffee memory. My bedroom was right above the kitchen.
