favored hens

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! Basically the only other thing I know to do is separate the rooster from the hens somehow. Have seen people use duct tape on the hens to help them from getting cut but it doesn't allow feathers to regrow and at the duct tape point you might as well use saddles. and i want fertilized eggs, so i dont want to separate them, but thanks anyway.

Welcome to BYC!

You could always get more hens. The correct ratio is 1 rooster to 10 to 12 hens. This keeps the hens in better condition since the roo has more hens to mate. Other than this or using saddles on the girls, Kelsie has mentioned the next best thing...separate the rooster out for spells.
