favorite candy bar?

I agree they have been crappy and smaller! Whats worse in our town, they put "sin" taxes on candy, pop and ciggies.

I love the local confectionaries, yes you DO pay more but the taste is awesome! My fav is the Chocolatier in Normal, IL I can only buy a few candies because if you eat even 1/4 lb of creme drops, you would literally puke.
Almond Joy with Kitkat as a close second and Mallow Cups in third, Reese's Peanutbutter Cups fourth. I have to complain though that in the past 10 or 15 years, candy bars overall have gone downhill in quality and quantity. I wouldn't mind the bars getting smaller if the manufacturers continued to use quality ingredients. And I don't want a big bar that is crappy ingredients!

But they are using less and less cocoa and coconut, smaller almonds, more high-fructose corn sweetener or other cheapo sweeteners that make the candy bar sickeningly sweet but utterly lacking in actual flavor. There's a difference between taste and flavor! "Taste" means the sweetness, while "flavor" is the chocolatey-ness, coconutty-ness, etc. It's that flavor factor that has badly deteriorated to the point where I rarely buy candy bars anymore.

I thought that the local confectionaries would produce better candy, since it's handmade, but discovered that with the exception of a few items, their chocolates and candies were also sickly-sweet but low in flavor. Everyone is cutting back to save $$, I guess. You have to go the tippety-top of the line chocolatiers to get the real thing, and you pay dearly. But for me, sometimes it's worth buying only a few expensive bon-bons that are fabulous, than lots of crappy "cheap" candy.

I buy a candy bar every couple weeks when I get gas. I always buy Heath bar. It's got to be my favorite. Frozen is a plus, love frozen chocolate. What's your favorite candy bar?

So the cure for gas is a candy bar? Why wait till you get gas? Be proactive. I love Butterfingers.

Snickers!!! I don't even have to think about it.

When a friend of mine was in a sociology class, they had to choose a support group to attend for a few weeks to get an idea of how support groups function. So this friend went to a weight control group (Overeaters Anonymous, I think). Anyway, she told me about how one woman in the group talked about how she couldn't resist Snickers - and how a soon as the woman mentioned Snickers, a bunch of other people chimed in that Snickers were their downfall. Just thought that was funny.

Why do they always put the almond joy bars right by the check-out register, and why have they shrunk so over the years?
