Favorite Chicken Breed?

True Ameraucanas? I'm curious if they're friendlier than Americanas/Easter Eggers. The ones I get have always been a bit skittish.

All Ameraucanas I’ve had (raised indoors or by a mamma) are extremely skittish.
And all of my Ameraucana rooster’s children are just as skittish as he is!

I've had Buff Orpington's, Welsummers, Speckled Sussex and barnyard mutts but my favorite by far are my Old English Game Bantams. In 8 years of raising them, I've only had one 'ornery' rooster. Sweet gentle hens. Loads of small but tasty eggs. The hens can be a bit broody but in all honesty my barnyard mutts are far more broody than my OEGB's are.

I'm seriously considering removing the larger birds from my flock this summer and sticking with the big birds in little packages.

Oh....they don't eat as much either.

We have barnyard mixes right now and golden laced wyandottes. I can't really say what is my favorite other then my very mixed rooster Colonel Sanders he is just so funny and sweet! And a very good rooster to his hens.

From our first flock we lost last summer we really loved the silkies, but the others they were all barnyard mixes with great personalities.

Our wyandottes right now I can't give a fair judgement on, because they were raised with turkeys when they were younger (long story ) BUT they are very very good layers!

I have GLW's, Speckled Sussex and Buff orphington. The speckled are by far the sweetest girls. So friendly and both of mine have done the most 'call outs' for Ariel predators this year. Love the speckled Sussex.
