Favorite Cold Weather Treat

My girls and boys love warm oatmeal. potatoes and scrambled eggs mixed or a head of cabbage( it last all day and keeps them busy). In the warm weather watermelon is the favorite. scratch is always a big hit.

Well South Texas for once got really cold, down to 18...and even though DH they are chickens they will be fine, we have no electricity out there, so I got bread from the bread store, put it in a huge pot, added milk, and oatmeal any left over fruits we had that were ready to go to them....and warmed it all up. Made them some warm goodies for there tummies....they loved it!!!!

I buy 2 huge hefty trash bags of day old bread for 15.00....and I mean packed tight!!! on certain days when my daug. is bored she will sit and toat bread stack them and put them sewn on a string...lol I know but its creative!!!!...
