Favorite Heirloom Tomato varieties?

Cherokee purple is my very favorite! It has such a deep, savory flavor it's almost like it has been salted. Hillbillies are also a good eating tomato if you're like me and just eat them right off the vine still sun-warm. Sungold are my favorite little variety.
Cool! I'm growing both Cherokee Purple and Hillbilly! Not Sungold though, perhaps I'll try growing them soon. 🙂

A friend has given me saved seed from his Cherokee Purple tomatoes. I'm puzzled by their growth pattern. Either he has mixed up his seed (possible) with another variety, or they have some weird thing going on where they grow cherry sized tomatoes. I picked one large one today, and I want to try it for flavor. If I like it, I'll buy some seed for next year.

My Mortgage Lifters have a lot of catfacing going on. :( Not a big deal for cutting up chunks for a salad, but a real PITA for peeling when you want to can them.

Gotta get some better pictures of the Hungarian Heart tomatoes I picked today. They are heart shaped, so I can tell them apart from the others, and they are a canner's dream! Big and blemish-free skin so they will peal well.

I harp on the peeling thing, I know, but the scalding/peeling part of canning is the most work of the whole job for me.

Those sound like they're a good variety to grow. How big do they usually get?
