Favorite hen having hard time breathing

I have not started poultry drench but I will get some for her tomorrow. I dont know why I didnt think of that! Thank you for the suggestion!

Black poop concerns me. I have one with black poop, but pretty sure she’s ingesting burnt wood. Unless yours is eating something similar or charcoal, it could be blood. Have we talked about a fecal float yet with you?

All my girls were wormed 6 weeks ago with Valbazen. I give 2 doses 14 days apart. Also, I sprayed them with Elector at the same time. Periodically I use corid as a preventative and generally have very few health issues as a result. In this case with Margie, looking thru all the symptoms in Damerow’s book, there was always a significant missing symptom that prevented me from knowing for sure what she had. She is still raspy but seems to generally feel better instead of sleeping all the time. I remain unclear on what she had/has but no other girl has gotten sick and like I said she is mostly back to normal with exception of continued raspiness in her voice and breathing.
I must say a huge thank you to everybody here that offered help, encouraging words and suggestions! It really helped me be proactive thru the panic of fearing the worst for my sweet little hen. Im cautious but definitely hoping for a full recovery from whatever Margie ran into germ wise!

Fantastic to hear that she is doing better. Keep up the good work, chicken cuddles & encouragement for Margie. She's such a pretty girl & we're all pulling for ya both!

Although she still sounds a little raspy, Margie laid a little egg yesterday!!! I so hope that means she is recovering! Thank you all SO MUCH for your help!

PS Her best friend is now making an oft rasp now although is acting completely normal so far...

Great to hear that Margie is doing better! And an egg! She was probably so happy to sing the egg song!!

Hope her friend starts treatment, too. Good grief, what a way to end the year!
