Favorite Orpies growing out

I've got their brothers and sisters!!! They are still in my grow out teenage pen. I need to get them out and take some pics. I think I ended up with 2 hens, 2 roosters, and one is still up in the air, we will see.

Those birds are just boooteeefulllll!!!!!

I'm excited about mine now. Well, I mean I was before, but gosh they are pretty!!!

THunter, that is the point.. I don't want sharp narrow tails but rather nice poms in the back.

This is one of my hens.

Yes, the Orp shape is closer to Cochin in that area than others. If I was going to continue breeding them when my big Suede is gone, I'd be getting some from Miss Julie.

My Suede did come from Julie's early stock, but she has made such strides in improving them, I'm very happy for her. Julie, we feel about Suede the way you feel about his daddy, your Blue Boy, so he'll be here till he passes on, I think.

Yes, that splash hen in the pic is out of Blue Boy so he definitely added something great to my flock pair with another line. These youngest ones have the Blue boy touch in them. His great grands. CAn't wait to see the final results.

I did line breed the last year. This is Blue Boys third year with me. The first year I had a few pullet from Sandhill and two blues hens I hatched a from a memeber of the old BYC. I don't know what their lines were because I didn't know enough to ask any questions like that at the time. I just knew I like their pictures. They soon quit keeping the Orps. The next year I bred the offspring plus two black hens from another line from a fellow in Florida that I met at a show and we swapped chicks and I got two very large exhibition size black pullets and Bama from. He gave me another hen this year when I carried him a roo but she is not quite as large. These chicks are the offspring of Blue boy daughters and Charlie Crossed . So far I am pleased.
The splash hen is daughter of blue Boy hathced last Spring.

Just for a reminder, Here is a picture of Blue Boy and the Boy is wide. He looks like a broad breasted Turkey now. He has shorter legs and lots of fluff. Also a pic of one of the Sandhill blacks that is very very typey although not huge. Very worth using to breed quality.

Like I said before it is just the Grace of God giving me my hearts Desire. He is good. I remember a few years ago I really wanted some old fashioned Petunias, the perrinial kind. You can't buy them I started asking the Lord to help me find some and the next year after living in this house for 3 years they started coming up in the front yard I just transplanted them to my flower beds and have had them since.
