Ok that kid is freakin sick! I really hope you filed a restraining order or had some sort of justice from that event!!

yeah, that kid was sick. he ended up in juvie until he is 18, at least four more years.

just talked to the animal control officer. we talked for about 15 minutes about chickens. he knows who owns the dogs and is going to get them euthanized, going to fine the owners and told me that i have the right to demand compensation.

he also said that we have virtually no laws on chickens in town and he has been trying to get them listed not only as livestock but as PETS! this officer sees chickens as PETS! if he can get things sorted out, chickens will have the same rights as any other pet like a cat or dog. INCLUDING humane treatment and such!

FINALLY! how freaking cool is that? there was another thing i was worried about. it is illegal to shoot guns inside city limits so i inquired. he said that if i am afraid of myself being attacked, my animals or even my door i can legally shoot the animal. i no longer have to shoot dogs in secret because now i know that i don't have to worry about it.

the fat, lazy, empty-headed animal control officer came through! why? because we apparently have the same love for chickens. he will be taking photographs of the dogs, and getting some archived photos that meet the description of the dogs and from there i will point out which dogs are the ones who came into my yard.

he told me that i have full rights to compensation and i have full rights to get them and their dogs for destruction of property. so, destruciont of property, destruction of livestock and "causing fear", which i did not know was even included in the laws.

i mean, if i am just scared of a dog or animal i can legally dispose of it. the week is looking up after all

shenanigan will have his burial tonight we are going to spread his ashes and keep a little vial of them.

i will miss my poor baby, but justice will prevail! thank you all so much for you support, your sympathy, your kind, kind words and your great advice.

Brandywine, if you don't like the tone of this thread, please stay out of the "Predators and Pests" forum. You probably won't like what you see. While we all understand that it's the owners who are at fault, not the dogs, there's little hope, based on the OP's previous experience, that the dogs will be kept away from her chickens.

KattyKillFish - so sorry for your loss.

Hope everything turns out ok. I've really enjoyed reading your various threads since I joined BYC - a cool glimpse of a different culture. I hope you'll keep sharing with us.
