Favourite summer treats

Scrambled eggs is always a hit.

Ours love Kale too. I either just hold a bunch in my hand and let them pull it off, or tie a bunch and hang it in the coop. You could also lay it on the ground and put a brick on the stalk end of it so they can pull small pieces off.

Both kale and scrambled eggs are very nutritious too.

Yes ours love egg! Unfortunately we have 3 of 14 laying so trying not to waste eggs right now 🤣 ( mix of broody/raising chicks / came off brood but hasn’t started laying again / too young)

I mostly let mine free range, it makes them so happy, but also, I'll shove dandelion leaves into suet feeders and hang them in the run. I give them a lot of watermelon. They also get grapes in small amounts, which they LOVE. One of my deceased girls, Sof was trained to come sprinting anytime she heard her name because she knew there was a chance of getting a grape or a worm. ❤️

What are your chickens favourite summer treats?

Trying to be creative to spoilt our girls. (And show the babies some yummy treats!) but not sure besides watermelon and meal worms what else to offer as they can be fussy!
Help!🤣
Wet mash seems to be a favorite at all seasons. Just put a bit of the normal feed in a dish and add water. You can change the water temperature so the mash is cold in summer and warm in winter.

(I do this with pellets and crumbles, which soak up the water quickly. If you use a feed with lots of whole grains, you would get different results.)

Love this!
Mine free range also - but I do love giving treats - helps build the bond etc!

Grapes see popular! Once they are not $15 a kg I’ll grab some 🤭

How do you serve the apple? Mine hate it!
Just sliced in wedges, top to bottom.

There’s no accounting for chicken tastes! I’ve tried lettuce, kale, mustard greens, carrots, cabbage, etc etc, on them, and nope. They did happily strip bare some Brussels sprouts plants, although it took them a long time to eat anything other than the leaves.
