Favus? Sinus canker? Or maybe something else?

Does anyone know what this is and if it's treatable? Her right nare is blocked with something. She's a very skittish chicken and won't let people near her, the last time I had to catch her to take her to the vet she got very stressed out. I've read this post https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...pics-posted-more-pics-15-and-16.625704/page-4 but I don't want to go grabbing her and prying at her nostril with a toothpick until I get a better idea of what it could be

Yes, my guess is that she has a plugged nostril. It looks like it is affecting her right eye probably from the sinus being affected. Unfortunately, you will need to grab her off the roost at night, and either work on her then, or place her inside a dog crate to work on it in the morning.

Hydrogen peroxide applied with a QTip and set there for a few minutes may help start to soften it. A wooden toothpick should be used to gently and slowly dig out the material. Metal could damage the nostril. One poster recommends a feather quill and another recommends plastic flosser points. Then I would put a drop of oil or vasiline on it to continue letting it soften after the first attempt. Skip the oil if you get it cleared with one treatment. This may take a few attempts, since food and secretions can turn into a material as hard as concrete. Here is an article to read:

I caught her in a towel and put some olive oil on it. I did try scraping at it a little bit with a wooden toothpick but it is as hard as a stone and we don't have any peroxide here. I also checked her mouth and throat and couldn't see that yellow stuff they get with sinus canker

I managed to get some hydrogen peroxide today from the chemist, it's 6% but it says on the back to dilute 50/50 with water so I did. I soaked a cotton bud with it a few times and applied it to the blocked nare but it isn't making a difference, it's not breaking up with a wooden toothpick. Am I meant to dilute it with water for this or should I just use it at full strength? The chemist also had 9% if that's any better

I think it’s just a plugged up nose hopefully. This happens to my turkeys all time. So far your doing everything right. Just be careful incase it’s cemented itself to the inside of her nose, then try to pull it out.
