first off I don't have awild life license and i don't have money for the vet I am jusst trying to save a baby.I was out riding my bike with my dogs when I saw this fawn standing in the field that a was being cut for hay.Of course he was crying and just standing there.I went over and he was very badly injured.I took him home in my flannel and cleaned his wounds wrapped them and have kept him warm and save all day.He took about 2oz of goats milk out of bottle I just let it drizzle down my finger that he sucked on,more like force feeding him that took all day.I did stimulate him to pee and poop and am hoping he makes it thr.the nite.He is very weak.and very tiny about 1ft.tall and 1.5ft. long.He does have a couple of teeth.

You'll have to continue to give him the warm goats milk.

I'd put antibiotic ointment on his wounds.

You should be able to call Fish and Game and they could send someone to come get him....

if it were me, I'd be raising a deer.

What kind of wounds does it have?

You really should call fish and game or a wildlife rescue in your area...they will know how to properly care for the little one to be able to release it in the future. Captive deer are actual just about the most dangerous captive animals around.......more so than lions/bears/tigers/etc. People don't think about them as being dangerous b/c they are vegetarian...but they have SHARP hooves, and bucks have very sharp antlers. Their fight or flight response is strong...and when they can't flee...they will fight. Bucks in rut are even more dangerous than others...they will become dominant and territorial, and god help anyone who gets in their way if they smell a doe in heat. If you intend on releasing it...it can be difficult to do so so that they will have a healthy fear of humans.....a deer that is not afraid of people is a deer that gets itself into a lot of trouble. It is in the fawn's best interest to be cared for by a trained wildlife rehabber.

I know if I call anyone they will jusst kill him his wounds are very bad.I did clean them and put on antibiotic oint. And then wrapped them.I will do what I can to keep him comfortable. He is in a warm soft blanket and I drizzle milk down my finger for him every 15-20min.I will be going to bed and pray that he makes it til morning.I ama nurse so I do know what is involved here with the extend of his injuries. No one would have taken him to try and save him.

Aww! i hope he makes it!

If his wounds are that expensive then maybe its in his best interest to euthanize him...... Have you spoken with any rehabbers?...if not, how do you know they will just euthanize him?....There are a lot of people who do rehab work....I'm sure many of the people in your region are as compassionate as you.

I would probably have done the same thing trying to rescue it...and I applaud you for that....but its really going to need the expertise of a trained professional. Not to sell your nursing training short....but a deer is not a human...not even close, and they really can't be treated the same as a human patient. Good intentions are great.....but you can have good intentions and do more harm than good. You could just be causing it unnecessary pain. Again...I applaud your efforts and compassion....but I really think you should call someone.

MI licensed wildlife rehabbers...

Good Luck... Hope all goes well for the little guy, and you! I'm sure you'll make the right decision(s) regarding his health and well being.

you are doing good. keep him warm, treat the wounds, keep up the stimulation to toilet. check for dehydration by pinching the skin up into a fold - if it stays up he's dehydrated. you may need to resort to sub cutaneous fluid therapy, or direct stomach tube feeding.

good luck, keep us posted
