5 Belgian Quail D'anvers
2 Turkens
2 Calico Princesses
2 Spitzhauben

A lot to choose from, and most people seem to agree that those Calicos are the most fearless out of all of what I have acquired, but no. My Turkens, the target of every other chick in the brooder, are the ones running over to my hand to see what I'm doing.

So now I'm curious. Has anyone else had a chick that they thought would not be friendly become the friendliest of all their batch?

I had a EE roo, and he was the craziest, most energetic, and most dominant chick, but now at 2 years old, he'll jump in my lap and sit there calmly. he's also never been aggressive to any of my hens.
What has been your experience with Calicos? We were thinking about getting some this spring, but all the feed stores across the county sold out of ALL chicks (and turkeys!) within 2 hours of the shipment! :barnie

Guess I should've placed a preorder.

This is my first year with calicos, but I looked them up when I was deciding because I didn't want to accidentally get even more birds with aggressive traits and everyone was saying that they were the friendliest birds they had, even as babies. Guess mine just trust the majority in the brooder that say I'm scary cause they're in the back hiding with everyone but the turkens, lol

And I had a pretty friendly EE roo too, that sadly passed this winter (The guy lived almost seven years though). He absolutely hated ducks, but other than that, you could buy his trust easily
