My Silkie male chicken I thought was paint, then splash, and now I've noticed some tiny brown feathers he was hiding on his wing.

This is relevant to help me work out what colour genes he could pass on to his offspring as I've got chicks with mystery mothers!

TIA

aw thank you! His flecks are black, definitely not blue or grey. Apart from the random little brown ones! How did I not notice those before? Maybe I forgot or it didn't matter 🤷‍♀️

If he is "paint with brown leakage" (that sounds like something poo related, yuk!) can he pass on white, black or brown to his offspring?

I've got 2 chicks so far and 1 is black, 1 is brown flecked, and others who didn't make it were white. I'm just wondering if the brown flecked got her colour from him or from the mystery mother who I'm trying to identify? I don't know much about genetics.

I got a cuckoo rooster that had some brown on him and i bred him with a black silkie and I got a partridge silkie surprisingly.

That's pretty cool.

4 more babies have hatched. Two are paint (white with black spots), one is white with yellow legs and beak and the other seems to be lavender.

The only yellow legged hen I have is a wyandotte.

geneticists: is it true that the white/paint babies from this father will be male?
