It's snowing BO feathers in my coop. Every day for the past three days, the ground is littered with fluffy little tawny hued feathers. I'm worried that at this rate, my BO, Anna, will be as bald as my husband, (that's pretty darn bald, folks.) It appears the majority of the feathers are coming from this area, (random picture for illustration only.)

I have no idea if she's being given some rough lovin', if she's molting, or if I need to get some chicken Rogaine. She just came out of a short broody phase and hasn't resumed laying...does feather loss follow broodiness?

Chickens are hard. (My tag phrase must be added. I'm hoping someday I'll be an old pro, but I'll probably still think chickens are hard even then.)

She's about 2 years old. This morning there were actual tail and wing feathers...not just the downy bits from her legs. She doesn't look rough or plucked, but she's my only buff so there's no doubt as to who the feathers belong to.
Every day I see a few more feathers. Most of my roosters have started, they usually molt first, some of my turkeys are dropping feathers too, and I'm sure I will be seeing hens start molting very shortly, so if you are seeing the big feathers than it's the molt.
