Feather footed high maintenance?

I'm wondering if the feather footed sultans and silkies are too high maintenance for my free range plans. I wanted to try a couple of those breeds for fun, but I am having doubts after reading that they cannot get muddy.

I have LF brahmas, had silkies, SFs and a few mixed breeds with feathered feet. I free range. No problem and we don't have a spring season around here, we have a mud season instead.
They get dirty and they get clean again.
