I just picked this one year old Light Brahma up and I don’t know what to make of his feet. The flock seemed to be in the middle of a molt. I got him because he wasn't playing nice with the other roo. I did the Vaseline treatment the night I brought him home thinking maybe mites…but now I’m thinking maybe it’s poor feather growth. I did notice the others in his flock had similar looking feet. Any input is appreciated.

We have this same exact problem with our big Splash Cochin rooster, except the feathers on his feet are already grown out and not short like yours. His feet are always red and he will sometimes lift one of them up all the time while he walking around as if it's irritated.

looks like his feathers are just starting to grow back in and should be fine. i have that problem when someone gets picky with the foot feathering and likes to pluck at it. they nip them very short but they will grow back in.

his feet have that pinkish cast to them since he is breeding.

it does look like he has some scaly leg mites starting up so it is good you are treating him for them!
