One of mine is molting and looks like yours with a bare butt. This morning she was sunning with her butt towards the sun. Pretty funny.

Yep, it's their way of replacing old feathers with new. Some birds just drop a few feathers at a time and others go into full out feather loss/replacement. She is taking the latter course.
