Feather Loss in Pekin Duck

I recently noticed my Pekin Marlow had fleas or lice of some sort on his head and neck, and now he’s losing feathers in the same area. I treated him and his coop with a spray from TSC, and haven’t actually seen any of them since. But, it still looks pretty uncomfortable and he’s itching the area quite a lot. Is there anything else I can do for the poor baby?

Lavender not only calms chickens, but it can repel pests. You can try putting that around the coop. Have you checked around his vent, where the mites might congregate?

That’s a great tip about the lavender. I did see fleas around his eyes, but I since sprayed and treated them. I haven’t seen any since then. Also, I believe the feathers have grown back. I suspect it was a mixture of the fleas and his molt that caused it initially.
