feather loss on lower back?

2 of my hens have feather loss on their lower back. At first i thought it was molting and then maybe the roosters being too rough when doing the deed...but ive secluded the roosters for a couple weeks and theres on improvement. In fact a third hen is starting to lose her feathers there as well. Can someone help?

Hi!

We have got that same problem. What is probably happening is that other hens are pecking out her feathers. What I do is put Vaseline on the hen's bare back and remove the hen from the flock for a while. Wait until some actual feathers are on her back before putting her with the other hens again. Also, if you're willing to spend a little money, you can purchase a chicken jacket or make one for her to wear until her feathers are grown back. The plus side of this is that you do not need to separate her from the others.
