Feather loss, red sore on leg

My D’uccle rooster has some redness on his leg. His foot is curled under (has been so since we got him) and he has had issues with feathers breaking, bleeding and getting infected as his walking surface is feathered. I had him treated by a vet in the fall. Now that he is older and more hormonal- read: a jerk- I can’t care for his foot like I used to. This leg now appears red and swollen, with feather loss. It’s possible he got caught up in something but that seems unlikely based on our set up. I fear this may be infection spreading up his leg. Anyone have insight? These are the best pics I could get. I’m going to try to get a closer look tomorrow when I have someone to help me.

You may have hit the nail on the head with the hammer, hormonal. Inspect the other leg for a red streak. If you see a red streak, it's hormones flowing and is normal this time of the year in roosters. No need to do anything.
If you dont see a red streak in the other leg, it could be an infection in the other leg and it would be best to get him started on amoxicillin.

Thank you for your response! I was able to get some closer pictures. I don't know why these feathers are broken, but that seems to be part of the issue. Any thoughts seeing this?

It almost looks like a bad case of scaly leg mites in the first photo. Other than that, have you seen him or another bird picking at his foot/leg feathers?
You can slather Nu-Stock on his leg and foot. Reapply as needed. The Nu-Stock will take care of the mites and deter any picking as well.
