feather loss

i have a white rock hen that is a year old and she is losing feathers on her back near the tail. i have three other white rock the same age and none of them are losing feathers . could this be molting or something else could it be mites.

Well it sounds like molting or, if you have a rooster he could be the cause of it.

I'm looking for answer to the same problem. 1 year old with lots of good feathers MIA at base of tail. Was my best looking bird too.

Besides mites, other threads have suggested they may be eating their own feathers. Bleck! Up the protein in their diet by mixing in some chick feed.

There may be other possible causes/cures out there, so I'll keep looking and check in on your thread again soon.

the hen is still the same i looked for mites and nothing, being she is still laying i am thinking that the rooster may be causing this. but not sure anyone else got any iea
