Feather mites again :(

I thought I’d gotten the feather mite situation under control but it seems they’re back - the worst affected is Polly again as they seem to be around her face this time and I’m just wondering what I can do. I’ll be moving them into a larger and easier to clean shed today also.
I tried to do the bathing method last time which I’m not sure how well it worked because she was struggling a lot and not happy at all so I couldn’t get much done sadly, but I do have some diatomaceous earth which I’ve heard is good for mites? I’m wondering if they’ll go away if I take better care seriously scrubbing the shed each day and clean the bathing water much more frequently - is there anything else I can do?

I have chicken and not geese, but I have had good luck getting rid of feather mites by topically applying ivermectin.
Is it available in the uk? I find it’s harder to come across stuff like that here especially since I live pretty rurally

Never mind! I looked it up and it’s the same as most of ours over here (1.87%) so the dosage is the same: 0.23 ml per pound for 5 days

So for me the easiest way to get an exact amount is to get a second syringe (6 ml to 12 ml) and put the end nozzle of one syringe up to the other and slowly push the plunger on the paste plunger down until you’ve suctioned up the right amount into the smaller syringe.

Then what you do is apply pressure to the corners of the goose’s mouth until they open up, open the mouth, stick the syringe as far down their right side of the throat as you can, then hold the head up for a moment so it goes all the way down and they don’t spit it up.
Then follow it up with a treat.

The faster you do this the easier and less stressful it is. Also in my opinion 12 ml syringes are better because they’re less likely to get lost down their throat.

I actually ended up finding some anti parasite spot on for birds (the noromectin would have taken weeks to arrive sadly) but it’s in really small dosages because the range of stuff you can get here is rubbish 😓 I also saw someone mentioning a scalex spray for lice and mites in birds in another website and wondered if that would be any good?
