How long after using de does feathermites start disappearing? My hens still have scraggidy feathers. Ive been dusting them every other day.
And what color is de suppose to be? Grey or white?

Make sure you are using food grade DE and not the pool kind. Mine is white.

If the infestations is bad enough DE may not be strong enough. It is better at preventing bugs than getting rid them once you already have them. I would recommend Sevin for dusting birds that already have mites. Make sure you are dusting them really well all the way to their skin, under their wings and around their vents.

Sevin/DE/Adams, any of the dusting agents, will only kill live bugs not eggs or repeat in 7-10 days. I usually do a third just in case.

Mites can actually live in wood/pine/straw all around your coop and then get on the birds so the same day you dust your birds you need to clean your whole coop really really well and replace ALL of the bedding and nesting materials otherwise they will keep coming back. Mix the DE into your new nesting material.
