Feather picker

I said it works as well as Pick-no-mor. I didn't say it works!

Last time I tried it, the bird it was on preened it off herself, reopening a wound.
I washed off as much as I could and used a very thin layer of AB ointment instead, which she thankfully left alone.
 
I had feather being eaten the very first year I had the chickens, at about this time in the fall. I don't have any issues with feather picking, feather eating, blood or flesh interest since I started feeding them raw eggs. And that's with them being over crowded according to guidelines.

I do feed a chick starter that's 21% but I also feed copious amounts of millet and wheat that would bring down the protein percentage. I think laying hens end up lacking exactly what they produce in the eggs. Part of it's protein, but not just veg protein...but the essential amino acids etc that an animal protein provides and specifically what an egg provides. That's my theory.
