This is related to an earlier post, but has anyone ever heard of a salt difficency causing birds to pick at other birds? I have heard that a lack of protien can possibly cause that, but never salt.

I was under the impression that boredom caused feather picking

I think it's boredom and pecking order disputes mostly, though I've heard the protein business too.
Never heard of a salt deficiency causing it.

There can be several causes so you may have to investigate a bit.

Over crowding can definitely do it as can too little protein. The salt thing is somewhat murky but there is research that indicates it can help in some cases.

Do a Google search on salt, poultry, and pecking and you'll find some info.
