I know the grease sounds bad but it does really work. It has saved more than one of my hens. As soon as I see that they are picking I smear the area with grease (axle grease) and then no more problem. The others get their beaks full of grease and then they don't dare try to pick again.

Only one time did I have to put grease on a hen twice. I think she was picking most of it off. She seemed to have an obsesive compulsive problem with picking at herself. She is all better now.
