I have 20 straight run Buff Chanteclers from Ideal Poultry that are 8 weeks old. Yesterday I noticed about 6 feathers scattered around the coop. Does this mean the beginning of feather picking? If that is the case I would appreciate any suggestion to nip it in the bud. Thanks!

Mmmm, at 8 weeks, they are more likely going through their first mini-molt. They'll drop some of those baby feathers they first pushed out as their adult feathers grow in.

Keep an eye on them and see if you actually see them pulling feathers from one another. I'll bet you don't.

I really think it's just them pushing in their adult feathers.
