Help me figure out gender of our chickens! We can only have girls in town, so the sooner we know, the better so we can raise them from hatch and interact as much as possible.

Ps: My kiddos named all of the chicks :)

What's the parentage of these chicks?
Feather sexing only works when a fast feathering male is bred to a slow feathering female. In other words it doesn't work in most situations unless specifically bred for it.

I just watched a YouTube video on this yesterday. From what I understood, if the feathers are all they same length it's a rooster. If they are alternating short/long/short long, it's a hen. So based on your pics, the first pick is a rooster, the rest are hens

I apologize, looking closer at the first pic, it appears to be a hen as well

Hi! We are supposed to have a whiting true blue, a silkie, a black copper marans, and 2 easter eggers.

You can't believe everything you see on YouTube.

Like @The Moonshiner said, only certain crosses can be feather sexed.

You will need to wait 6-8 weeks and then post pictures that show their combs/wattles.

The Silkie you will need to wait longer for. Some don't give away their gender until they crow or lay an egg.
