Feathering on chick

I have a closed flock of ameraucana that I have hatched from for a year. There is no way for anything to get out or in the coop, so no mis matings are possible. I had a chick hatch out that has some feathering on its legs on the outside and third toe. Nothing like heavy feathering, but what causes this? I will be culling the chick or selling as a pet, but it surprised me. Any one else had this happen?
