I have 8 Easter Egger chicks that are 3 weeks old from Mcmurray’s. I was taking each one out to hold & spend time with when I came across this little one. This isn’t the crop, is it?? It’s very mushy to the touch. Chick doesn’t act sick or anything, eats, sleeps, poops, raises hell. It’s got me worried. 😟

Crop is right side of neck in the front.

Check that spot first thing in the morning before they have eaten breakfast. If it’s still there, then start investigating further. From the pictures I’d say crop. But, selfie mode vs std mode makes it rough to tell what side it’s on.

Thats what I was thinking, to the right of the neck. It just seems to me like this hangs too low... I might need to get him\her out & stand on something instead of hold. It’s got me worried though, so I hope it’s just the crop. 😬 I will check first thing in the AM. 🤞🏼

I went and had him/her just stand & it appears like it’s definitely on the right side, but it’s featherless/floofless, I wonder why it would be that way??

What do they eat from? Maybe rubbing down off that spot?

Not saying it’s hurt. I’m suggesting maybe it’s rubbing on stuff during daily bouts of mayhem.

Betting it’ll be flat as pancake in the morning. Hoping it’s so.

You were right! 😊 I went ahead & left their food out for a couple hours last night cause I figured I wouldn’t make it in time before they started eating in the morning, the lump was flat! I guess it just looked a little odd being bucky bald right there.
