Feathers and Fluff Farm Ameraucanas (California)

If they ship live chicks, they are required to npip to guarantee healthy chickens. But look them up on the BBB and do a Google search. I didn't have any luck finding any reviews that weren't linked to their own website/Facebook, which, call me paranoid, doesn't install a lot of confidence. Imo

I looked them up on the npip website and they're not registered nor can I find them on the BBB. They are registered on the Ameraucanas breeder directory linked from the Ameraucana breeders club website but I am not sure that means anything. I really want to be sure that I purchase healthy chicks so I don't end up with incurable diseases like MG/MS, Mareks, Coryza, etc. There's also a breeder in Florida working on Isabels and I may settle on them for hatching eggs if I do not find out any more info on this breeder as the one in Florida is npip certified, and maintains very strict biosecurity.

Yeah that’s wise, I’m not sure I’d go with them if they’re just on the ABC directory. I’ve not heard of them either, but I definitely think you need some of these birds in your flock! :-D

It would have been nice to go with someone more local but you can never be too careful when it comes to purchasing chickens! Haha yes I absolutely need Isabel Ameraucanas in my flock... as well as black, white, wheaten, mottled, etc. 😂

The FL breeder is who we got our Isabel hens from, we met her in person and I found her both friendly and professional. Would definitely recommend.
Most important to me, these girls don't show any feather shredding from the lavender gene. She is serious about breeding back to Wheaten continually to improve feather quality.
When I spoke to her in spring she said her egg waiting list for this year was booked solid, and she doesn't sell eggs during the hot months, but she may sometimes have fall eggs available. If not you would want to get on her waiting list for next year before January.

Awesome thank you for this info! It’s nice to know that they don’t have shredded feathers either! I’ll definitely have to get myself on the waiting list for next year!
