I can't tell if this is molting, picking or mites.. Can anyone help?
She has 1 tiny black spot on her comb. Eating and drinking fine. Only Her flight feathers are broken off and just above that she has more feathers coming in. No more feathers in the coop than usual. Haven't noticed her being picked on and can't see any bugs on her
1) What type of bird , age and weight.--- Buff orp, 10 months
2) What is the behavior, exactly. --- broken feathers and black dot on comb
3) How long has the bird been exhibiting symptoms?-- not long
4) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma.-- no
5) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation.-- nothing we know lf
6) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all.-- yes
7) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc.-- brown and runny at times. other times normal
8) What has been the treatment you have administered so far?- just brought her in house, gave bath and electrolytes
9 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet?- want to treat ourselves
10) If you have a picture of the wound or condition, please post it. It may help.
11) Describe the housing/bedding in use-- Coop with deep litter, covered run, perches, red heat lamps inside coop. Layer pellets
