Feathers everywhere

I notice a LOT of feathers on the ground in our chicken coop - yes, they are finishing moulting but there still seems to be a lot more feathers all over the place than I ever remember - the weather is turning here - could they be losing some more feathers to grow in more for the winter?
Chickens are about 2 years old.

Chickens will usually go thru 2 molts a year. If they didnt molt very much the first time around usually a cold spell will send them into a full molt. You should see my pens right now. It looks like I mowed over about 10 chickens.....LOL

They are fine just trying to molt most of their feathers at once.

OK, that is a relief! Time to re-stuff the feather bed!
