Feathers gone or picked off on my 2 yr old Buff?

My 2 yr old buff orpington looks really odd. Most of her body feathers look like they have been snapped off just above the tip, so it looks like she has all these quills sticking out all over. Her neck looked almost "greasy" the other day. What is going on with her? Anyone know? She is eating fine and walks around with others all day. My husband is about to do away with her!! QUICK help!

She's molting, shedding old feathers, growing new ones. The quill looking things are actually the hollow shafts where new ones are growing. Don't do away with her for getting new feathers!
