feathers growing in weird

This 6 day old chick's feathers are growing in really weird. It's some type of barn yard mix chick, but I've never seen feathers come in twiggy like these are. Any thoughts on what's up with it?

I think you may have a silkie cross.

The sheeth that the chicks grows usually gets bitten away when the chick preens. However, a silkies wing feathers are not quite the same as a regular chicken.
