Yes! every year around this time! it is my favorite tree- the yellow is brilliant against the blue sky- then one wind storm and they are gone lolThat's so pretty! I'm guessing that tree does what a few of my maples did this year- drop all of its leaves at once? Love the colors!

Those little Xes you put on there, is that how you get them to peck in those specific spots?
Pretty much. I used a Philips screwdriver to poke holes in the skin. It makes those spots easier for them to get started.

Cool! I never knew how people got chickens to peck in specific spots like that. I always figured people carved the pumpkins first, then let the chickens go after them. It definitely makes the carving more unique when the chickens do all the work. I'd love to see it when they've 'finished.'
