feathers on legs?

One of my pullets (w. leghorn - about 14 wks old) has some feathers on her legs. It appeared from outside the run that she was having scaly leg mites, so I took her out today to treat. When I got a closer look, I saw that it was not raised scales at all but feathers. Normal?

Is she a hatchery bird? Could she be something else or mixed with something else? I've had young hatchery White Langshans that look a lot like White Leghorns.

It is certainly possible she is mixed. Yes, I got her 10 weeks ago (along with 2 others) from a nearby farm. I requested 3 started pullets w. leghorn. All his chickens, except for obvious pet/show types) were mixed in yards. The owner told me he'd look them over carefully and try his best to get w. leghorns, but couldn't guarantee they were pure breed ones. So, maybe she has the leg feathers because she is part some other breed, and that is not abnormal or any reason for concern?

The leg feathers themselves are no reason for concern, some breeds just have them. Silkies, Cochins, Langshans are common ones, their mixes often do, so your girl probably just has a little something else besides Leghorn in there.

I have two that are bantams and polish mix.they both have feathers on the outside of both legs and feathers on their feet.its just the breed.nothing wrong.
