This chick was stuck in shell. Aided him out but some of shell still stuck like glue. Feathers are rock hard. Should I try and wet with warm water? Am apprehensive as have already had to do quite a lot just to free him and am worried will get too cold. Neck was 180 degrees but has straightened a lot in last hour or so. (Was a late hatcher)

What I do is this...I have a spray bottle with almost hot water in it and gently spray the chick while holding it in a face cloth or small towel. This way the water is taken away from the body as you're working. I've had a couple that were so bad I've had to dip them or hold them under warm running water. Keep the incubator fired up so that you can put this little one back in so there is no chance of chill. It may take a couple of sessions to get it all but keep working at it with breaks in between for the chick to warm up.
