My hen who is 7 months old has a very small batch of skin showing on her back. Also her back feathers look like it's separating from her leer back feathers. Also some of the very top feathers are looking like they did when she lost them a few months ago. It's been unusually warm warm here and now it's getting colder. Is this moulting? She is eating and laying .

Molting hens can indeed show bare skin. A hen who's doing a hard molt can look like a bad plucking job in the poultry meat fridge at the grocer. If you can show a pic, that would be helpful. Do a thorough inspection for mites, lice. Do a thread search for pics, so you know what you are looking for. Also inspect coop with flash light for red mites that live IN the coop, but come out to suck blood at night. Above ? re possible roo wear also a consideration. How old is she? If she's over a year old, she may be heading into an annual molt.
