Wyandotte chickens are slow to feather (not a fast feathering breed), so it's unlikely that you can use feathering as an indicator of gender.

'Fast feathering' as a guide to sexing chicks only works if those particular chicks are bred to display that trait. Don't plan on it working most of the time, unless you have talked to the breeder and know it's a trait planned for in that hatch.

Both genders are slow feather-ing for this breed. A vent sexing is needed.
