Feathers !!!

I think my backyard is being taken over by feathers.
Small fluffy feathers of all colors.
About 1 in 12 feathers is longer.

What in the world? Is this typical?
What do you do with all the feathers? LOL I have fluffy feathers stuck to my mater plants to boot (the girls dont have direct access to the garden dont worry!)

*In case it matters I have 10 wk old, RIR, NHR, BR and Black sex-links. 2 Roos in the mix.

Molting is normal.... Some chickens eat thier feathers or I just scoop them up and burn them in the burnpile... It is normal to have a molt and have your yard look like a pillowfight.

Thanks geebs... burn pile. hmmm. I'm not sure I can do that here in the city. Guess ill just start scooping and throwing away.

I'd love to hear other ideas on what to do with the feathers

cats love them on homemade catnip toys!

I put them in my garden, very good for the soil, look up" feather meal"

My geese make the most mess with feathers, when they leave and area they have been resting at it looks like something killed a chicken with all the feathers scattered about.

There are folks on here that use the feathers for crafts.
