Are you talking about molting then yes. they molt right after mating season is over, but they don't become completely bald but you will find feathers laying around. So you are not going mad and Bonnie will not be bald.

If she is acting normal other wise then this is probably normal they seem to have mini molts till they get their adult feathers in. Mine are only 6 weeks old so they are still finishing up on their fuzz.

Hi, I'm new too. I have 3 west of England's. I was told they were 5 wk old, I've had them 3wk now and they have just started to loose their yellow fuzz and wing feathers are forming. Does this mean they're young than I was told?
Also, can anyone help or suggest what's going on. I have one that insists on pulling out the new feathers of his brothers, from their roots. They seem to scream and scream in pain. Is it real pain as I can imagine that would really hurt or is it a normal cry out when threatened? I'd really appreciate the help guys. Thank you

When I got mine from a farm nr Penistone UK I was told they were 6 weeks old but they turned out to be around 3 weeks they are really growing up now Clyde has pulled at Bonnies feathers a few times but seems to have stopped now but I get so much enjoyment watching there anticks they have there own uneque charicters

Thank you . I just really got to me when I saw from how deep that feather came from...I felt his/her pain I really did. I'm hoping it's just a baby thing lime a pacifier or they're finding out their ranking lol and not just out and out bullying. And you May be right about the age. Are they fully feathered at 6/7 weeks?...if that's the case he was bout 3-4 wk out fir a quick sale no doubt!...;)

Do you have them on grass? Goslings..and geese.. just love to tug..and they´ll tug on feathers of the others. They really need to be on grass. You could hang a cabbage in their pen for them to pull at, too. Or alettuce, but it disappears quickly!

You goslings are bored and are taking and pulling out their feather's of the other one to keep busy because as livining said the love pulling on things and grass should be the thing they should be pulling on. Get them cabbage or romaine lettuce and hang it and let them play and pull on that instead of each other!!!

Oh and welcome to BYC.

It's one goose doing it, he's ripped one out today and there was blood everywhere.
They have grass, feed, various kinds of lettuce, cabbage of four different varieties, sweet corn, potato, water melon
Etc etc...they have no time to be bored as they don't stop eating hahaha!
They have mirrors and chains danger by down to play with.
They have three bowls of water that gets changed three times a day I clean they're run and bedding daily (probably too often)
Abd they have company from 5am till 10pm. Outside their run is our garden with grass and theyreclet out twice a day,
outside our garden they Are taken out to a real nice piece of lush countryside.
They've settled down a lot but one bullies the other two by pulling out their first proper feathers and eats them.
We close their hut at 10pm but last night there was he'll of a commotion that we came down to see, at 2am, I think it was either
him bullying the others or a cat or Fox trying to get in. We don't have any other creatures here.
If they're bored it's only at night time when closed up . How do I overcome this boredom if it is a night time?
