Feb 16th hatch-a-long

I saw 3 eggs moving!!! I saw my first one Monday morning bright and early around 8:30am. I put them into lockdown and now am playing the waiting game... This is pure torture!!!! I really hope I have a good hatch rate. I'm pretty sure I have 17 of 24 Rhode Island Red eggs, 1 of 9 Purchased Silkie eggs and 5 of 6 Mix Silkie Cochin eggs. I set up a live webcam feed to them just so I can watch them from where ever I am. This is the coolest thing I've done in a long time!!! I'm still amazed that a chick is going to come out of the egg!!!!!! LOL

OMG I'm sooo jealous!!! I have yet to see a pip :( I have heard chirping coming from inside the eggs this morning though..... Maybe I just can't see the right angles of the eggs to see if I have a pip yet... Either way something is happening. It gives me a since of accomplishment after turning the eggs for 3 weeks like it was my job.

~I'm going to go recheck the eggs in a few minutes now that I saw yours pip~

When did you set them, I know the 16th but what time of day? Pretty sure I set mine around lunch time, I'm going to double check.

I set them about 4pm. I didn't expect anything at all until tomorrow night, so it was a bit of a surprise.

They were rocking really hard yesterday afternoon, and then chirping last night and this morning. The rocking is minimal now, but they do it if I shine a flashlight on them.

I've had to go to work for the day now. I just want to be home. I work for myself, so I keep telling myself it would be fine to lock the door....since I am the boss and all....somehow I don't think my customers would agree.

We visited our eggs last night and some of the others that were set the same time as ours were hatching. I couldn't see ours but I heard some chirping, lol. My 7 year old thought it was neat to see the new babies hatching. I hope we have a few make it from this hatch. We have more hatching next Wends, and each Wends after for the next 3 weeks so far, lol.

I have 7 that have pipped and many of them are chirping. None of them have hatched yet :( I'm pretty sure they're all going to hatch while I'm asleep tonight, if I sleep lol.

One has pipped enough to where part of the shell has come off but the white part is still there.

This is one of the hardest things I've done. All I want to do is open the incubator and crack it open and pull the chick out.... I KNOW I CAN'T DO THAT BEFORE YOU EVEN SAY ANYTHING LOL. I just want to, but won't.

I sat in there today for a good 45 minutes watching them wobble around and make noise. I still can't get over the fact a chicken is going to come out of the egg. This is my first time hatching eggs. One was pipped at 8am and still hasn't made any progress pipping or zipping, stubborn thing doesn't want mommy to see it.

It's definitely hard on the patience!
I have pip number 2, with no progress on the first pip.

They only seem to do anything when I leave the house....

Oh that would drive me nuts. I set up a live webcam fed to them just so I would miss anything!!! I bet they're secretly chirping to each other to not hatch while we're around!!!!

We have feather babies!!! 13 of 14 eggs hatched. We knew one wasn't any good at lockdown so already knew it wouldn't hatch. We ended up with 5 blue splash marans, 5 black australorps, and 3 golden salmon marans. The only one that didn't make it was the French Cuckoo Marans egg.
