come on chickies!!!

Hey guys I just candled my day 14 barred rock eggs but I wasn't sure what I was looking for exactly. In all four I could see dark masses which I assume are the chicks and good air cells in the wider part of the egg. In one I could see lots of veining but in the others I couldn't. Which one is good or bad? Or could my poor light be the reason I didn't see any?
Could be your light, but they sound right to me- sometimes depending on the thickness & color of the shell you may not see the veining

Ok thank you but I just thought it was weird that on one they were very prominate and the others it was like they were clear except for the chick and air cell. I hope I don't only have one good one :(

I came back home after a day of school, and found 3 new pips!!! I'm so excited! How long after they pip does it take for them to hatch? I can hardly wait!

On Feb. 13th, I was able to get 40 eggs in my incubator! My very first hatch!! The eggs are Easter Eggers, Olive Eggers and Ameracauna/Andie(black and splash). I get to candle then tomorrow and I am so anxious for my babies to get here. This whole patience thing is killing me. LOL
Nice mix of breeds to hatch!! GOOD LUCK!

Hi,
Our Light Sussex chicks should be hatching this week. One of my pullets is sitting on them. First time we have used a broody to hatch.
I don't know how many eggs are uner her. She won't let me close enough to look.
Best Success,
Karen in western PA, USA
