She had some of them in the fridge maybe that's why or they got froze befor she collected. Unless I messed up some where I just don't know. I'm gonna look for more eggs and try again my boys were really looking forward to the hatch.

egg #1 (big bator) is doing the same thing one of my ch orp chicks did last weekend. instead of zipping it's just making a big hole. and now I have 2 more eggs with tiny pips (small bator) I guess my duck eggs will have to miss a couple of hand turnings- but they are in the auto turner so not like they are just sitting still.

this is when I first saw the pip- boy what a surprise!

I don't think you did anything wrong, I honestly think the eggs were bad or old- stored eggs are supposed to be kept 'cool', but I don't think they are supposed to be refrigerated if intended for hatching. I've gotten all my eggs so far from ebay because I didn't have anyone local that I knew or had the breeds I was really wanting. If you can't get any more local, maybe take a look on there. They have some that are from just a few $ up to whatever? Also there are people on this thread that sell eggs, they have all kinds. If I had any hens I would send you some- but all I have right now are babies & young- nothing laying age yet.

Look on Craigs List also. Many times people will list on there. Or you could even post ans ad for wanted eggs.
